Disconnect

I have been charged several times when my game is stronger than the opponent of disconnecting. I have never disconnected it is always the other person who disconnects. When this happens it  happens when the game gets tight. It never happens when there is plenty of play left. There is a bug somewhere that the other player knows about and can use this whenever it is necessary to win. I don't mind losing this way because it does not make me a bad player just makes my rating suffer. However I think it is very unfair for this to happen and I get charge with the error.

Did you ever have a cell phone call drop? Did it happen because you hung up or did it just happen?

Internet connections, especially wifi, can drop in the same way.

If your opponent moved while you were disconnected, you would not know. You would say that they are the one at fault.

But chess.com's servers are still communicating with your opponent's device.

Therefore, they conclude that it was your connection that was lost.

It was not your fault but they have no choice but to forfeit you.

Why does it happen when the game gets down to the wire. Why wouldn't it happen at other times? This not a coincidence. I really don't care what happens but just thought you might want to check this out further.

If you want to reach the staff, you have to write to support@chess.com.

The forum is mostly answered by other members.

Perhaps when it happens earlier in the games, you are able to reconnect and do not notice it.
