You will learn to appreciate the spiteful disconnects when your opponents start letting long-time-control games run their clock all the way down from zero. At least with the disconnects you are only waiting a minute or two.
The thing to watch out for with the disconnects is people who intentionally disconnect, then time themselves to reconnect before they auto-lose, in the hopes that you went AFK and then they can beat you on time
They say, when the going gets tough, the tough get going. Apparently not so with quite a few players here, when the going gets tough, they either abandon alltogether and run into mama's arms or they disconnect "connection interrupted", presumably to "Phone a friend" or "Ask the audience". There is no shame in admitting defeat and pressing the RESIGN button. No one will come knocking at your door 10 minutes later and take you to a Gulag.
