Heritage140,
If you are in a regular game and you have to go ( knowing you will not be able to return) it's good sportsmanship to resign the game.
If you are in a tournament and you would like to withdraw, go to the "tournaments" tab, located next to the " new game" tab and click "withdraw" located next to the tournament that you are currently in.
The warning you probably received was from our fair play policy. To learn more about this, please visit the following link.

Dear staff, I received a warning about not to make other players wait. The warning even said that I could lose some of my time on chess.com notwithstanding I payed about $85.00 to the site. The reason I had to discontinue the game or games is because I'm in a special program and I had to leave, and I lost contact with WiFi on my Kindle Fire. Yes I was EXTREMELY disappointed that I had to leave, everything happened so fast. Is there a way I can log out the next time one of those exiting tournaments come round? Thank you very much, I do really love chess.com, especially those video lessons! If I can help it I will really try to avoid this from happening again.
