Discrepancy between blitz and Standard ELO

For years my bullet rating has hovered between 1000-1100. I hadn't played a standard game for a year (I ditched standard for a LOT of blitz), my rating was 1300 when I last played.
In the past week or so I've played 11 games, won 8, lost 2 and 2 draws and my ratings shot up 1573.
What explains inability to break through the 1100 barrier in blitz (rating a year ago was same as it is now) when I've improved so much in standard? Or have I been fooled by randomness and just gotten lucky?
