Zeitgist floated and foundered through zugzwang,

Ruy Lopez shot Nimzo with Alekhine's gun,

Philidor and Morphy taunted Max Lang,

The Boleslavsky hole is lots of fun!

Noone remembers sacrafice that fail.

So far, I may have to give this one to electricpawn, for his excellent verses.

Also to mrguy888, whose answer is existentially awesome.

My pawns hurt sometimes. That's why I always have a queen in handy. 0_o

I guess someone got the b6 is the 42nd square on the board if you count in the direction the numbers and letters on the side do.

Try to "mate" and avoid getting "forked."

heinzie

Life is all about prophylaxis

bigpoison

J'adoube.

Azukikuru

If you don't have enough mating material, you can't fulfill your purpose.

heinzie

Life is all about avoiding getting your king caught

jjeffrey

Try to always make your best move, do your best, and try to learn from your mistakes.  Enjoy the game!!

draconlord

People forget that it's just a game. As the game progresses, you could be in the world's greatest position, get the type of material advantage you never once dreamed of, but in the end, it's just a game

Artsew

Surprised we don't have this one yet:

- If you are trying to mate be sure to do this safe.

Also

- Learning many mating patterns is bound to be usefull

I actually didn't get it at all. But I suppose maybe the sarcasm I instilled into my statement could now be reversed. Unfortunately, in that case, electricpawn still wins. >_<

WARNING: this will be extremely corny.

When we enter the opening, we have the ultimate intention of checkmating our opponents. As we progress, we find that we both lose our men in vain - everybody loses material and nobody obtains an overall advantage. In the end, it is best to draw - and cut the losses. Nobody loses, but nobody wins - we all live in peace.

^^^ I apologize for anybody that read this hippy-like silliness. It seems winning in chess and violence / war in the real world don't seem to be good analogies. Your intention with chess IS to enter a war and win. >_>

Crazychessplaya

In life, as in chess, you can have many Queens, but only one is the original.

Jazo23

We must reach our goal(checkmate-success), even if we sacrifice everything.

CMGuess

If life gives you pawns... make a sweat shop.

1618_of_PsyChess

the purpose of life is to "make your move" ... 1) e4 ... once "one" has made their move, then the rest of the game has already written itself (determanism). the only "humane thing" (humanistic psychology) that can be derived from such a move made, is how "the game" (life) is played. 1) e4 ... 2) ? .....

1618_of_PsyChess

looking at this again, you made the first move ( describe your posting in chess terms), and let my comment represent "another response" to your "opening." 1) ??? d5 ... 😉🙏😌
