i just dont get it
do Americans really see Bobby as one of the greatest players

Because you don't know much about chess. Ask Anand, ask Kasparov, both of them will tell you that he was their greatest inspiration and role model
Hahaha touché!

of all time....i mean he was good, but defintelly is not a top 10 player of all time..he was good for his time
Lulz. Meanwhile OP seems about ready to declare Caruana the greatest player ever based on his streak in St. Louis.

Yes, and so does the rest of the world. The ones that know anything at all about chess, anyway.

It took you three tries to get a single reply to a Bobby Fischer troll thread, probably the easiest trolling subject on the forum. Give up, son. Trolling is not for you.
He was OK for his time but with modern theory a 1500 player today could probably beat him easy. Chess players today are so much smarter.

'...a 1500 player could probably beat him easy.' As George Orwell said, there are lots of ways of expressing incredulity in English, but '...and then you wake up' is the right one here.

Bobby Fisher wasn't just the current champion, he dominated all his contemporaries in his prime. (Much like Carlsen today.) This is a reason people from all over the world see him as great.

Lol "OK for his time". For his time, he was better than Magnus Carlsen, if I can make such an analogy. His 5-0 streaks against players from Larsen to Taimanov and all others surrounding 1972 is unparalled. Not by Karpov in 1994 or even Caruana in 2014!

Booby Fisher was more than a good chess player. he did much more than win a world championship. He raised the standard for all subsequent masters in playing conditions, prize money, and respect. Its a shame that he lost his mind the last 12 yrs or so of his life. This sometinmes happens to geniuses in any endeavor. Thanks Aglitatta.
