do Americans really see Bobby as one of the greatest players
BOBBY!! BOBBY !! BOBBY!! Grew up beating all the heavy hitters... Had Alekhine been around he would have beaten him too. The dude had a 180+ IQ and I am not sure but his and Alekhine's where the highest IQs of the century. Had it not been for Bob's protests for better conditions and such we would probably not even be familiar with Million Dollar tournaments!!
Ever heard of Fishcher Random chess? All the Greats study his ideas. He was a walking chess engine!! The Rybka of his time!!!
Fischer, Karpov, Spassky, Kasparov and the Polgar sisters and Roman Dzindzihashvilli!!! Could you imagine this tournament?
We need to get Roman Dzindzihashvilli in on this conversation. Add Yasser Serriwan and Mike Williams from Va Beach and there are your top 10... If you do not believe me just ask me!!!! AH-hahahahahahahahahaha!!!
Just kidding about the Mike Williams part!!! Ya just cannot leave Anand and Carlsen out of the top 10.
Garry should not have retired!!!! GARY KASPAROV for PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!!!
And I would also like to say... If you are a US citizen and do not like the USA then learn from BOBBY FISCHER on this one and get out just like he did!!! I would have probably left the country for a 3.5mill too but love the US!!! With 3.5 mill I could live on the US-Canadian with dual citizenship and organize chess tournaments in a doughnut shop to keep this debate going while adding to the 3.5 mill!!! YEAH BABY!!!
Thanks Bob!!
Great Question! Have you ever wondered what would happen if two great chess titans from different eras played each other?
Check out this site for info' on the novel, KNIGHT TO KING 4, coming out in February 2015- about such a match between Fischer-Kasparov! http://www.kennethtzemsky.com/
I'm sorry, but apart from the 9-11 thing which I already discussed, I can't help but laugh at those comments and the consequences - I'd say that Netanyahu and the woman minister of something speaking out against arabs, americans and racism (another black man died, congratulations america!) ... well these are concrete problems, not Fischer's declarations.
OK, fine, I will admit that Fischer never handled nukes, and was more respectful of others than Netanyahu. That's actually disputable, as I believe Israel's PM is more manipulative of Israel's opinion that genuinely hateful, but never mind.
I am not sure that helps you a lot.

I'll weigh in on the Bobby Fischer thing if you'll bear with me.
Say what you will about the eccentricities of Bobby Fischer, a certain amount of falderal attracts public interest. Bobby, the child chess prodigy; teenage grandmaster; world champion before age 30, gave the chess world something to talk about. I watched the famous Fischer-Spassky match in 1972 and made a scrapbook from newspaper and magazine clippings. Surprisingly, Bobby took a poisoned pawn and sacrificed his bishop in game One. He caught up with Boris in game Five, at 2 ½ each.
During game Seven, hints of sabotage were made by the Spassky camp. Was there some electronic devices and chemical substances in the playing hall? Reykjavik officials searched and found none. Nearly 3,000 people packed the dome shaped hall in regimented silence to watch the match while the world looked on at a distance.
The St. Louis Globe Democrat on Friday, September 1, 1972, headlined “Victory mood reigns in Fischer’s camp.” In game 21, Spassky sealed his 41st move exercising his right to adjourn the game. The next day the Russian defender telephoned his resignation. Fischer’s passed pawn and advanced king were too strong. In the 24 game series he was leading 11 ½ to 8 ½. $250,000 went to the winner, an unheard of amount for a chess championship at the time.
Greatest player? Although Bobby could think 25 moves ahead, he couldn't match Koltanowski who played blindfolded against 56 at once, winning 50, drawing 6 and not losing one!
