oh wait what i thought you were also in middle school

i am in high school and also lightning but its not really something surprising, most schools typically 7-12th have very strong players exceeding probably 2000 skill

how about middle schools? in my middle school im the highest rated player and im not even high rated lol

No, you don't. Even solving 10 puzzles a day, or playing a few rapid games and analyzing them will help you improve, if you do that consistently.

SebSch84

I'll say every day, no matter how long.

i mean come on thats a ton of time and i have a lot of others things to do too. don't get me wrong, i like chess and am serious about it (i want to improve) but 5 hours just seems too long.

A few hours a week got me to USCF A class.  After that?  I had no desire to put in the effort.

Study the right things: That is. . . . . . . . . . Tactics. I recommend the Woodpecker Method. It's an ELO improving machine, in my opinion. It's grueling, but if you apply yourself, you will see the results. Let me know if you buy the book! Love to hear your thoughts.

Chess improvement isn't  "study 10 hours a week to get to A class"  And once you're their, it doesn't become "Study 20 hours a week to get to Expert."  If 10 hours a week can get you to be an A player, than its gonna take not 20...not 30...not 40 hours a week.  It will take 50 hours a week.  Which is fine if you have the time, motivation, and desire.  I didn't have the time, motivation or desire.  Chess was something i enjoyed, but never had a passion for.
