Actually, i like if my opponent does that. I feel that i might have a slight advantage as it is my pet opening & i know the pros & cons of it.
Do people like/dislike playing White against their favourite Black opening?I
I do not care to play against my black deffenses.
However, I do not like to play as black against my favorite white openning. It is flustrating to me to play against scotch or scotch gambit in my case, thus recently I avoid 1. ..e5.

I go for the Ruy with both colors, so I wouldn't care (most Ruys end up fairly equal in any case, so no big secrets).
But even if I were forced to play 1.c4 or 1.d4 as white, I wouldn't mind facing my favorite black openings. Even more so, actually I would be most comfortable in facing those openings, because those are the positions I understand best heh.

Well, everyone occasionally must play against their own repertoire, so one should attempt make the best of it (and grousing to yourself inside your own head that you hate doing it isn't really helpful...). In my case, I play 1.e4 e5 as Black so I see a lot of the Two Knights Defense with 4.Ng5 from as White as well as Black. I find it helps to know it from both sides -- particularly since it can be very wild tactically and the strategic goals for each side are pretty clear cut. My $0.02 in USD.
I was curious to know whether people like or dislike playing as White against their favourite Black opening. Personally, I do, but I am not convinced that is the general view.
