do people still fall for the queen’s gambit?

I think it's one of the first "tricky" openings which beginners become familiar with. At least that was the case for me, who wondered why somebody would give a "free" piece like that, until i figured it out and learned how to best refute it.
So yes, it is very recognizable opening.
What trick? It is a solid opening that has long been (and still is) played by players of all skill levels.

There’s no trick here, and this trap is well known by anyone that has any experience. Queen’s Gambit is all I play as white, solid…

I thought that could've been that case even though it's not what he said, but yes mr anticipator, if that is what you mean yes people still fall for it.... there are all levels of chess players and new people start playing everyday, so people fall and always will fall for all sorts of traps and tricks... if scholar's mate works why wouldn't this one? especially at lower levels.
