Do we play better chess in a cool temperature?

Warm temperature makes you feel hot as well as stinky, if that happens, who would be comfortable. Cool temperatures are way better. You got to think freely without sweating or being exhausted. Plus, you can think better with a stressless setting.

Just posting this as it does explain a little of the effects of heat and cold on the body.  Love the comments at the end of the article.

You liked those comments? Then again, you are a kiwi.

Try this howler from the comments

the reason many cultures from tropical regions never ascended to a high level of technological and social developments is because of the hot weather causing the people to be more inclined to settle. While those who lived in cold regions with harsh winters, were home to people who were more intelligent.

Try telling that to the Indians who overrun this site.

people in denmark pay lots of money to come to vaction in a WARM country.  But ok to relax the whole day not to do some activity.

If playing chess in a cool temperature, one may consider placing a hot water bottle under the cushion.

In that building they did not have air conditioning which gave Anand the advantage over Kramnik.

same reason why Bent Larsen lost to Bobby Fischer 6-0

I have played under hot and cold conditions , both are unpleasant to say the least !  Since I come from the heat of Dixie I can tolerate heat better than cold though and cold bothers me much more ... as I age both extremes become more and more unbearable ....

You do a facepalm when someone is talking absolute nonsense.

bananapyjama

When playing in hot conditions, one may consider playing in a bikini.

Or a g-string perhaps, the g-string on a guitar is the string that goes flat first :D

Well both,  To keep a cool head and be in a cool room would be a sure combination for a winning game I am sure, assuming you had the stronger game, or maybe could see some amazing tactics that you would not otherwise have seen had you been overheated and stressed to the limit!
