Yes. I do write my own impressions in the space next to the description of the moves! I am glad that I did when I go through again!
Do you annotate annotated books with your own words?

What usually happens when you go through them? Do they make second impression on you?

Sir.. it is easier to recollect and remember the essentials. Also I can gauge my progress easily!
So once you annotate a pasage in a book, you are indicating to yourself that you understood the passage and what concepts that it teaches you. then you would apply the concept in practice in your games?

Never. I double check the book analysis using the Arena GUI with a Houdini engine. This is especially helpful when going through older books written by Euwe, Alekhine, Capablanca, Fischer, etc.

So you have good memory.

I cross-reference a lot, too. With one hundred plus chess book in my library, ChessBase Megabase, Fritz, Houdini, Rybka etc., it is possible to do some really deep analysis of an opening or a tabiya.

When you're doing these analysis, do you have to have the material right in front of you in order to do it?

No, I don't , because I don't have any.
You don't have any books?
Is this something strange?

It's a question. it doesn't indicate anything else.

I annotate every move using Chessbase to create an e-book for whichever book I'm studying at the time. I try to note the purpose of each move and what it accomplishes. I can go back later and edit the annotation(s) as my understanding improves (at least I hope it's improving).😊

They seem to me a waste of money since I'm not talented enough to apply adopted 'knowledge' to actual games.
I've read some chess books from library, though.

this is what im looking for
I personally write in books that I own as a way to really make my reading experience personal to me otherwise the book wouldn't have any value to me. I haven't annotated chessbooks yet since majority of the chessbooks that I own are in PDF format, I intend to read all of these books in PDF format. The question is, do you annotate chess books that already have been annotated by the author or if you read them via PDF format or do you have a software that lets you make annotations on them. That would be helpful information.
