Do you find unrated games boring?

I do. Does that mean I'm addicted to gambling? Why do you play chess, for the enjoyment of the game itself, or the scoring mechanism and feeling of progress?

If you are addicted to gambling, what chess has to do with it? It's not a gambling sport, game.

Unrated games are very useful if you want to explore, train, etc.. You have less pressure without rating and also you just concentrating on a single task , which is improving and not worry about things like loosing on time or rating points etc.

You gamble with your points.

Yes. personally i find it boring Playing unrated games is less entertaining because whether you lose or win you get nothing. when playing rated games, we will feel like need to fight because it has reward which is increase rating. BUT it depends, online or real life. In online i think it's boring but in real life when you play non rated tournament it's still fun, because we doesnt lose anything if we lose game, but [Little] Experience. beside that i think unrated games are also useful. i always do it to try different playstyle like different opening, quuenside castle etc.

You can't gamble with your points , it's not decided by chance you either win because you are stronger or loose because you are weaker.

Gambling means you are unknown of the results, if you play someone 2000+ rated I think we all know results.

Search the definition of gambling, before arguing

Without risking something it has not that impact on your mental being.

Especially when it comes to the rating in chess, people are very anxious to get down in the rating ladder.

Today I've seen a profile of a titled player here and in his profile he happily announced to accept matches, but only unrated. One can understand they aim to protect their rating, not throwing away

a good rating against low rated player. Common player can do the same, playing only those peple

they want. Doing this they force to get banned. If a titled player is trying to rig his rating this

way he isn't worth it and a really bad sportmanship also.

I like unrated because the games seem to focus more on the chess itself, with players less likely to engage in that bizarre "time scramble" when the clock runs low.

Plus, for some reason a lot of players get angry/hostile in rated games. The unrated pool seems (in my experience) to be more cordial and mature.
