Do you guys hate stalemate?

Avii0034

Not when I am down material.

Kriss_Vector31
Very true, but I hate stalemate when I’m winning by a ton.

Nope. It provides for some very interesting nuances in endgames, such as a flank pawn in q+k v k+p being a draw

This is a crucial element of the game.. the game would not be the same without it

technical_knockout

it's a great rule just be careful.

Robotofdeath395

It is really annoying when your up a lot of material then stalemate but so good when the opponent is up a lot of material then stalemates.

eric0022

Yes when I am winning.

No when I am losing.

But we have to live with it - it enriches the game.

I totally agree. Its a great rule in those situations.

Wits-end

I hate it only when I fumble a win. I hate stale bread too, for the record.

IsraeliGal

if u hate stalemate then dont stalemate.

Believe it or not, its usually pretty easy to avoid unless you play like a retard.

Why are you using this as an opportunity to insult others? Very unnecessary.

It's unnecessary to make useless rubbish posts about a non-issue.

hundreds, upon hundreds of the same BS posts on this topic.

If you don’t like it no one is forcing you to enter the thread and comment. But I get it, your just a moody person who overreacts.
IsraeliGal

It’s mostly U1000 players who promote to like 3 queens and then complain

I get it, it’s a knee jerk reaction, but as you get better you start to realize how stupid you were being. I’m pretty sure most of us stalemated at like 800 and got mad. You learn that it’s just part of the game. Plus, it’s a learning experience.

I_Zerk

I hate & like stalemate, Suppose you're a higher rated and you draw or stalemate, You might lose your points like -9, or -4 (Depends on the Opponent's rating)

If you play a higher rated, You would get some points,
In stalemate situations, I tried the "Rosen Trap" or "Stalemating"
And Yes! It worked!
This is why i like and Hate Stalemate!

Sankalp2024

I both like and hate stalemate. When my opponent is higher rated, I would get some rating points. I usually say 'phew.' For lower rated, I definitely don't favour stalemate.

Once, a 1700 promoted two knights and four bishops. At the end, I was lucky I didn't get checkmated.
