I was evaluating the position after 25. Rxa6 Rxd3. Instead, White played 25. h3 and I, for some weird reason, thought that d3 was hanging. What a sad way to lose.

As a new player who makes a LOT of blunders, seeing this thread really makes me feel better.  I'd love to see it made sticky.  BTW: the diagrams with commentary are awesome.

In keeping with the flavor of this thread: the worst way to lose is not getting crushed in the opening--it's having an opponent dead and burried and then having a brain cramp that lets them win!

Yesterday i got up a bishop early and had great central control and piece activity.  I got distracted by a telephone call and proceeded to lose the bishop back, my rook, my queen, and the game

When it rains it pours.  One game I blundered away my Queen, and was so focused on that mistake I dropped a rook the next move.

my favorite blunder was in a speed chess game when i moved my king boldly multiple times right into  a mate in the endgame that I could have avoided.
