Do you have any good chess terms in your language that you miss in English?
I miss the Norwegian term "officer", which refer to the pieces of the game excluding the pawns: The King, Queen, Rooks, Bishop and Knight. While in Norwegian the term "piece" is used exclusively to refer to all pieces, including the pawns.
English on the other hand overload the "piece" term, using "piece" both for all pieces (including pawns), and for all pieces excluding the pawns.
