I can checkmate with 2 bishops and bishop+knight but not 3 knights .
Do I need to learn it?
Three knights is easier than two knights versus king and pawn.
King and knight can drive a king into a corner. Meanwhile the second knight blocks the pawn. Then the second knight moves and goes on to checkmate the king, while the pawns runs.
It occurs rarely, but it is a good exercise in coordinating pieces.
