I think the bots and mods could stand down a bit more. I enjoy the game and the resources this site gives me. But I’ve had frustrations, particularly the bots and their bizarre enforcements against dirty words (I once got a 24 hour ban for quoting a post that contained a dirty word, how the quoted poster got away with it, IDK). I may be inclined to play elsewhere if it worsens. Serious post, despite my usually flippant demeanor.

My affection for this site is waning. I was unjustly muted last year (resolved within 48 hours) and that resulted in me not renewing my premium membership. Today I was warned about an "inappropriate" post within a topic. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it; no profanity, not insulting, it was respectful, it was concise. I have sent in a request asking for "human eyes" to review it to advise me why a LARGE RED banner appeared at the top of the page warning me the post violated community guidelines.

I took up chess about 3 years ago after a 45 year absence. I bought a few books and found this website. At the time it was the only website I was aware of. In those three years, I have found other sites and the usefulness of this one, for me, has diminished.

EDIT: This post and the one directly above were made at about the same time. The 24 hour ban may be similar to why I was warned, as I had also used a quote that was accepted for the poster, but contained a questionable word.

You learn from completion. You learn what you do right and what you do wrong, or not as well.

That's how you learn.

Nobody is "advertising" anything. Nobody here is making one red cent from "advertising" anything. They just point out what other sites do BETTER. That's how you LEARN.

That's competition. Read Adam Smith's the Wealth of Nations.

Freedom of Speech works in your favor. It's the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America for a reason.

People speak, you listen, you learn.

People don't speak, you don't know, you don't learn.

And why are you afraid of the competition?

Are they doing something better than you?

If they are doing something better, why can't you?

No I do not like Chess.com for this very reason. Censorship on Freedom of Speech.

English is my second language.

In school I learn "subject + verb + object".

"You can talk about what is done better, but you can't tell who does it better."

David, I demand an answer.

I've been "discussing" the functionality since my FIRST post on Chess.com.

I wanted 40 minutes, 6 years ago.

https://www.chess.com/forum/view/suggestions/clock-control#comment-22413934

Chess.com does nothing about it.

[another site  -- VP]

gave me what I wanted 30 + 20.

I would have quit chess if I did not I know {another site -- VP] existed.

What does it matter that [another site -- VP] offers 30 + 20? you are not offering it. If you offer it, I would not go to [another site -- VP].

If you got what you wanted, and I never knew about [another site -- VP], I would have quit chess.

Is that what you want? Is that what you want, that I don't know about other choices?

I demand an answer.

By the way, I used to play in a real chess club. Time control was 90 + 60. Have you ever been in a real chess club with REGULATION time control?

The format of this Forum is nice.

I like to yakety yak on here.

I haven't tried [another site's -- VP] forum.

Here's something Chess.com does better.

And quit it with the censoring algorithms. Let the PEOPLE here judge if something is inappropriate or not. You know "We the People . . ."

David,

I know your listening is not good, so I'm helping you out.

Are you listening now? Is it loud and clear now?

I find the interface is still lacking. It could be more simple...for instance I wanted to play komodo but couldnt find how to play when i realized there where 2 hard to find options to choose between regular computer and komodo. Other site like [another site -- VP] has a simpler cleaner design where even a child could find its way.

Thanks for recommending it. It is as though the hand of time is turned back to the Yahoo days, but even better.

Chess is back in my life because of [another site -- VP].

Thanks for the recommendation.

Not because of Chess.com.
