Many people are judging Gukesh merely by performance of recent tournaments, not considering how well he performed in past. He had a 10 games unbeaten streak in Chess olympiad 2024, and Tata steel 2025 was also his great tournament. Apart from that, he also made a great comeback in second phase of Norway chess tournament.
But one thing people fail to understand is that, being a world champion everyone apart from tourney, also prepares against Gukesh, while before this, he was just another opponent, for his opponents, the same problem of Carlsen.
But with prep, that changes the things drastically.
I think Gukesh really has chances to defend his title. What do you think?
