if you find it boring then don't get a career in OTB chess.

I used to play a lot of 5 minute Blitz Chess and had a hard time adjusting to longer time controls of an hour or more. I don't remember much now, but I do think I was bored at some point.

There are moments of boredom, sure. Sometimes it's a very dry position and your opponent takes forever to play some obvious move. Stuff like that.

I prefer 30-45 minutes. A chess book I was reading said Anatoly Karpov in his prime would make most of his moves in 30 minutes. I can see that if a position is difficult more time may be needed, but games can be played very well with the time control I prefer. The more I know about the game the easier it is to make quick moves in my opinion which requires less thinking and thus less time to play.

Actually, 120mn game online can be a bore, cos: nothing is really at stake, not even your name.
Such games are to be played OTB, and sometimes online when you need preparation (agreed upon opening with your opponent, is then a good idea).
Also, if you don't really analyse the game once it's finished, and are not having any specific goal (intents of going for OTB competitoon, for an example), then it's perhaps better to play 30mn or less.
Once you're involved in a real (official) game in real life, trust me: it changes just everything, and time itself is simply abolished.
