Does anyone know why this move is Brilliant?
Rgxd5!! The moves after is what the game review says is best. There is also Raxd5!! However it still ends up in the exact same position. The rook on g5 is not hanging (due to a pin) but the rook on a5 is. If you move the a5 rook to safety, you lose the g5 rook due to a fork Ne6 attacking the queen and the rook.
This sacrifices both the Rooks at the same time in the same move.

Wouldn’t taking with the other rook work better though? because they can take the rook on the A-file. If not please tell me why

I have just had a look at the engine line for this and it doesn't seem to make much sense so I don't know...

1. Rgxd5 bxa5 2. Re5 Nd7 3. Bc4+ Kf8 4. h6 g6 5. Be6 Nxe5 6. Bxc8 Rxc8 7. dxe5 f5

Oh okey, the reason is because a few moves down the line they will have to sac their queen to avoid mate

You played both sides. You should know.

/ At any rate, 3 years ago, Chess.com decided they needed to redefine "brilliant" moves. They had previously had a computer definition which often produced very obscure moves.

They decided that going forward any half-way decent piece sacrifices that were best moves or nearly the best would be called "brilliant."

And that whether or not the sacrifices were judged decent would be curved based on the user's rating.

Your move is obviously a sacrifice.

from the Help and Support pages:

Brilliant Moves are always the best or nearly best move in the position, but they are also special in some way.

We replaced the old Brilliant algorithm with a simpler definition: a Brilliant move is when you find a good piece sacrifice.

There are additional conditions:

  • You should not be in a bad position after a Brilliant move

  • You should not be completely winning even if you hadn't found the move.

We are also more generous in defining a piece sacrifice for newer players compared to those who are higher-rated.

White text on a white background - this is a justbefair special. Several people have complained over the years about that.

You can copy it & put it on word so you can read it

It's black text on a white background on my computer.

I don't know why it would get reversed on yours.

My guess would be cxd5 Ng5+ Kg8 Bg2 threatening Bxd5

Well, it's because you use light mode. But dark mode is the default on chess.com, so the majority of people only see white blankness.
