Chess is a mirror.
When you’re calm, it deepens your stillness.
When you’re agitated, it amplifies your chaos.
Does chess calm you or excite you?

It is interesting, it really pumps me when I am on a winning streak, but I get really annoyed when I lose

As Gms burn 6,000 calories on yournament days, I could see how it could be stressful at your level.
This was the game that did me in.

I thought you were black for a minute, and I'm like "Oh man that guy's good" and, I guess stockfish is good. You did pretty good.

Chess is calming when I'm
- Handily decimating my opponents
- Not having serious time trouble
- Not in a position where I have to be extremely careful
- Playing my moves with a clear plan
If any of these requirements are not fulfilled, chess is stressful. In other words, it always is.

Yo I just cooked someone rated 75 points higher than me, but it was really annoying, because he always played the most annoying move.
Does chess calm you down or excite you? Or both?
