Does chess keep our brain active?

My intention in chess is to keep my brain active. I don't intend to be a Grand Master and I can't even.. I am already more than 50, my time was gone:-)
I just play to keep my brain active. Does chess work this way?

I think so, there have been a lot of studies that thinking games in general keep the brain more active than a non-thinking-game playing control group.

I am 59, I think it keeps me young. Now get off my lawn!
BlackKaweah
Not the way I play.

Yes my chimp has finished his evolution. He has surpassed man in term of intelligence thanks to chess

SpacePodz
A chimp doesn’t need chess to surpass my intelligence

Chess will definitely keep the brain active. First you become addicted. Then you waste your life trying to get good. Then...like me...you live in a park in the city and play chess all day...everyday 🤔

It depends if people have brains or no brains at all

My nickname, Pan troglodites is a tribute to chimps:-)

Pan troglodytes or chimps are under Critically Endangered (CR), that mean that the  species is one that has been categorized by the International Union for Conservation of Nature as facing an extremely high risk of extinction in the wild.

Pan troglodytes, or as we know chimp
