TV is a durable appliance and would easily lasts at least 5 years. Most would prefer buying the latest smart phone. Makes them feel smart. I use my phone for 3 years minimum. I prefer buying a potential vintage watch or a small piece of gold jewelry.

My first "nice" TV investment was 3 years ago, when i bought a 32" 720 dpi smart tv. I just "upgraded
to a 40" FHD. I lead a pretty simple life...

You should have bought 4K TV. It would take another 5 years to upgrade.

Yea...so i can have the 4K experience, and watch channels that don't broadcast in 4K.Â

More channels would broadcast in 4K later. How simple is your smart phone?
Â
All that means to me is more channels i wont watch. Its a low end samsung j3.

J3 is simple. Cheap doesn't mean low tech. My 250 dollars phone bought 18 months ago is as good as iPhone 8.

My average data plan use on my phone is less than 250MB a month. I know people that complain all they get is 10GB.

The "conversation" was electronic to begin with. And it gets back to the current addiction of phones, and electronics. So we are still discussing "happiness" and "pleasure"

I use at least 1 GB data. Unlimited data plan here is only 20 dollars a month.

I cant watch movies/etc on a laptop, let alone a phone?

I spend little time on TV and PC. The smart phone is my all in one. You must be wearing a thick eyeglasses already. I'm lucky not wearing anyÂ

Been wearing glasses since my early 40's. Not due to staring at screens. I don't recall what its called, but its what happens when you get over 40, and your eyes start to lose the ability to focus.

I'm concerned with majority of students wearing glasses. Reading under good lighting doesn't harm eyes. What caused their early eye problem?

LED screen is a big improvement over CRT display in terms of eye glare. Could it be less reading prints makes eyes deteriorate?Â

More specs than iPhone XS Max. (Except for camera) Thats why Samsung is better.

Astigmatism?Â
Good for you Delicious. Others just follow what's hot, what's in. Easy customers.
30+ years ago i knew a guy that would buy the current issue of GQ magazine. He would go buy whatever GQ said was cool to wear. If GQ said it wasn't cool the next month he threw away all the clothes he just bought a month ago, and start over.
Then again....<sigh> my son in law blows the yearly tax return on whatever new TV is out.Â
