It is just frustrating to fall back after I finially reached my purpose (1300 points in rapid).
Does games become harder after I pay premium membership?
I have started to use premium and my rating dropped 100+ points right after it but I do not think I played much worse than usually.
you're probably just getting unlucky with the matchups
When i purchased platinum membership i lose alot. unlike before i purchased the platinum membership but its ok since i get more experience and i can get better.
Everything is easier once you get premium. Your opponents are idiots and you win every game. They deliver mocha lattes to your door. Everybody on the forums admire and respect you. The moderators cut you some slack. The server never fails you. Premium membership is just great.
It could be because you are learning taking in new information. Brain needs time to rewire. Just calm down.
same I have reached 1800 rapid then i purchased premium but then I started losing a lot more it's almost 2 months i can't reach peak but instead losing more than 50 points
The answer to this is yes. I don't know why everyone is being a [removed -- MS] about this. It's obviously harder with a paid account.
on premium i was 1400 for 3 years
on the free version i'm 1700 and holding for already a month.
so dont tell me this is a coincidence
Whether you pay premium or a none member pairings do not change regards to having harder opponents, I personally would not use 60% of the memberships chess training, I learned to play 43years ago and my uncles chess book collection is all the guidance I need and my memories of his teachings!

I have been convinced for some time that they deck around with the pairings.. it is quite noticeable
I had the same experience, reached 1000, w/l ratio about 1:1, started paying premium and fell to 850. i'm 1300 on lichess but i now the algorithm is different there so no idea
There is a Latin phrase "post hoc ergo propter hoc" referring to the fallacy that if one thing follows another it was caused by it. If nothing at all changes your rating will go up and down around your "true" underlying rating. About 100 points above and below because of the randomness of individual results, even if nothing else changes! One definite truth is that when your rating has gone up a lot it is more vulnerable to going down, and when it has gone down a lot is the best opportunity for a big rise!
It's safe to say that half of people will see their ratings rise after changing their membership and half will see them fall. And neither are really caused by the change! The only relevant thing is that more lessons and chess puzzles should help a bit over time.
When I started premium years ago, I remember feeling this. The matchmaking started prioritising other premium member accounts, making the gap of rating between opponent's higher, those who pay are probably more serious about chess but also felt more authentic. So it wasn't worse just felt like a premium league. The feeling disappears as it becomes just normal, if you are serious about chess don't worry about the rating, when I hit 1300, I dropped back to like 1000 and then randomly a year later hit 1400 without realising. I am happy to take rating decreases so I dont think about the rating and can focus on training like a new opening for instance. Your friends who might actually care will still go into your profile and check your Peak, since they probably think abput their Peak.
