for online yeah why not...

if you haven't played OTB tournament, you could be considered a beginner.

I consider myself a beginner too because I played 2 OTB tournaments. that's litterally a beginner at "real chess"... My peak rating was 1830 online but I do lack "foundations"...

so regardless of rating I think after you play a few OTB tournaments like 10-20 then you can be considered intermediate ... whether your ELO online is 1400 or 1800 is less important..

just my opinion

Yeah you might be right... Just people view it in different ways these terms..

btw not all OTB tournaments are stupid some are chill, in a bar or caffe, like 7 + 2 Rapid... if by "stupid" you meant Classical National rated whatever...

the whole philosophy is stupid... why you should travel to a place to play chess if u have it free in chess com? + alcohol that you have while playing. lets face it even if james williams sidis the smartest person ever started at 25 he wouldnt turn pro..
