Does solving Tactics really helps in chess?

I can't play games to improve my chess so I just solve puzzles as much as I can but in those there's always a situation in which something is happening all the time but that is not the case with regular games so a question arose in my mind that how much it will be helpful in playing games if we practiced through tactics only?
