Well i started playing chess poor, got better and better. At chesscube my maximum is rating is nearly 1500  and i am going to imrpove more. However, it seems for couple of weeks i have simply lost it. My intuition and calculations seem to have become dull. As u can see here my rating is: 1200>>1050 just dropped tremendously. I just cant find a way to force myself to calcualte and give priority to opponent plan. I think this also maybe partially due to the fact that i lost a won position last time during gameplay (in real life on board; i played practically 3 matches won 2, 3rd was won position but i overlooked that h7 flight square was covered by white's bishop just completely blundered and lost some of my self confidence-overlooked mate threat, also maybe my bad grades at chemistry is probab messing with my head XD). I can do puzzles and have improved visualisation significantly my calculations but i cant seem to put it to use. Any suggestions/advice appreciated. For this reason i dont play at chesscube too to not drop rating there as well.

This is very long thread, sorry if i couldnt be brief.

Just don`t give up. As long as you don`t play chess for living  it is only a game. Laughing

Just play games, and let your rating be whatever it is. Not playing in order to maintain a rating is pretty twisted. It's not as if you're going to narrowly miss getting that Grandmaster title because one of your internet ratings didn't stay above 1,500 for long enough, so just forget about it, it's only a number.

I used to teach chess to low-ranking tournament players... my students were usually rated from 1400-1600, when they started the course. One thing that I noticed was that when they started learning new ideas and methods, their game results would go down temporarily, as they struggled to assimilate these new concepts and tried to fit them into their own playing styles. After a few dozen more games, their became more proficient with the new way of playing, and their game results stablized at a new, higher level.

I've been there. I had a time where my rating dropped something like 200 points or so on here. I had been moving to a house and was getting married at the same time. I was exhausted and playing games when I could squeeze them in and I simply wasn't focusing well enough.

This seemed to feed on itself for a while and I just kept making terrible mistakes and losing a lot. Finally a took a break, waited for all the big stuff in my life to settle down and then played some games when I was well rested in the middle of the day (instead of late at night when I could just squeeze one in). I won many games in a row and my rating dug its way back up to higher than it originally was.

I found playing fewer games in a week helped as well since it kept me from getting burned out. Playing every  single day, a couple long games a day, was actually worse for my playing.
