Looks like you are correct. Contact support.

Draws have to be claimed, it's not automatic.

Draw by repetition is not automatic. You must claim the draw yourself - after it occurs, when you click the draw button, it will claim the draw.  This is line with FIDE and other rules about 3-fold repetition.

A draw is not granted automatically- you have to claim it.

EDIT: Came third to say the same thing.

Yes, you have to claim the draw.  But your opponent has no choice but to accept once you claim it, if its really a threefold repitition.

Simple.  That second poster is just wrong.  Everyone else is correct.

There is no need to contact support.  Draws must be claimed.

Ok...lets get a little more technical.

Do you agree that a player can claim draw by threefold repitition even in cases where the moves weren't repeated three times in a row, but when the exact position occurred three times at separate points during the course of the game?

If so, one must have an amazing memory to realize it.

Yes or no?

I think chess.com helps with that. You must claim the draw, but if I'm not mistaken, after a threefold repetition, the button "offer draw" changes to "claim draw".

Avatar of ivandh

I don't think it does, because that is tantamount to a third person walking up to someone OTB and saying, "hey, you know you can claim a draw here," which is against the rules.

If I recall correctly, when I've been in this situation the draw button does not change.
