Draw Question

I had an OTB game last night where my opponent ran out of time while I had a king and a pawn and they had a king and two pawns. Their pawns were going to promote whereas my king stuck was in a corner. If my opponent had made a move I could not have on my turn legally made a move so stalemate would have been the result. However, they ran out of time the move before the stalemate would have resulted. Did they lose because I still had a pawn or was it a draw because, I could not potentially promote it due to the incoming forced stalemate and in some sense I had insufficient material to potentially win with?
Does this question make sense?

It would be a draw according to article 6.9 However, the game is drawn if the position is such that the opponent cannot checkmate the player’s king by any possible series of legal moves.

That makes sense. Thanks for the clarification!
