This is not a chess set for people with a small drinking problem. Its a set for drinkers that have a small chess problem

i think people who live up-north in cold climates tend to drink a little more than others living more to the south, because alcohol can make you feel warmer
there are not only Scandinavians posting here, though...

I know when I lived in Alaska, as the weather got coler, my, um... 'diet' changed accordingly.
A "hangover" is how you feel the day after drinking too much alcohol. Usually, you feel dull and have a headache. It's a bit like having the flu, but without the sniffles and sore throat.
When I don't drink I THINK I can win. When I am drunk I KNOW I can win. The difference is I feel fantastic irregardless of whether I win or lose when I am drunk...........
WELL I STILL PLAY CHESS WHEN I AM DRINKING, I HAVE DROPPED 100 POINTS BECAUSE OF IT BUT IT SURE IS FUN AND I CAN ONLY PLAY SO MUCH POKER! I ACTUALLY AM ABOUT TO HAVE A FEW DRINKS AND STICK TO BLITZ, I SUCK AT BLITZ ANYWAY!
CHEEERS! SALUTE!
I think I just played my first drunken opponent, so I decided to see what would happened if I typed in "drunken chess".
Looks like it's a sport for some. I play terribly when I've had a few beers, btw.
Anyway, in the game, I was white, and I found myself up against the Sicillian Defense, a Nimzo Closed game. Around 5 or 6 six moves in, he brought his queen out to a5. (this made me a little afraid, especially since his Blitz rating was higher than mine)
The reason I think he had been drinking (it would have been 11:45 pm for him: Saturday night in the UK) is because he then brought his queen right to the middle of the board, and I moved a knight back to f3 from capturing his pawn on d4, threatening to take the queen. He didn't see it, and took my pawn on e4 with his f6 knight.
Not used to seeing a queen being left en prise, I overlooked the capture and moved my queen in front of my king. He then thought about it for a few seconds, and moved his knight to capture my knight on c3. So, twice in a row he left his queen en prise, but the second time his queen was left en prise from capture by both my queen and knight!
So, I took his queen with my queen and he resigned. Game lasted less than 4 minutes total time.
When I analyzed the game afterwards, and saw the blunders on both our sides, I really didn't like the outcome… and sort of felt bad for him.
But I'm drinking beers right now, so… I'll get over it!
as long as you don't drink metanol instead
