Dutch Defense

Sorry my laptop froze. My question is whether a beginner would be able to understand the theory behind the Dutch in order to make it his typical response to 1.d4? I am not successful at all with the Indian defenses.

Agree with eaguiraud. Just play d5 if you don't like playing the Indian defences. It's simple and easy to play. Maybe later you could play the Dutch, but there are probably things that are better uses of your time than to learn than the Dutch like recognising simple tactics and avoiding hanging pieces at all costs.
