I prefer to play Kf4 as my opening move. Because Checkmate.
e4 or d4?!

-An old Latin maxim meaning there can be no dispute in matters of taste.
Some people like death metal and 1.e4, others prefer ambience and 1.d4. These are simply matters of taste.
Now, if you want to be a great chess player, you better get lots of experience with both, as well as 1.Nf3 and 1.c4.
