early resignations

Okay, I've been playing a lot of rapid games (Not really rapid, 45 min. - an hour). One thing I've been noticing, is that the majority of people who play me at my level , around 1000 for rapid, resign rather quickly, like right after they fall a piece behind. Why is this?
Who cares...its a W! for me resigning is a compulsion caused by anger and,frustration at seeing myself in a losing position. I feel like its immature and does not facilitate good learning...but I can't help it.

I've not played longer time controls like 45 mins yet (I will!) but I imagine that being such a long game, they'd rather not spend another hour or so playing a game they have probably lost. It's premature, especially at lower level when everyone blunders from time to time, but that could be it.
