I just look them up on chess.com.
ECO ???

Thanks Royalb
A valid responce BUT only good as long as you have internet. Not always possible for me. I was looking for a stand alone ECO program (rather than buying the book).
I have some old software that has an extensive and relativly easy to slug throuh the various opening lines. Concerned about how much longer I can keep it running.
Been running SCID 4.2.2 Jan 2010 & have found many holes in the ECO compared to my other software. Although sometimes SCID has lines my other software doesn't. Between the two & Wikipedia & feel fairly comfortable tracing out opening lines to add to my Repetoir & Tree Masks
Just recently set up SCID 4.5.2 Nov 2013 on another computer and am still working through the differences. Haven't made it to the Tree Mask section yet to see what the ECO book looks like.
I don't want to buy a Chesss DB program like Chess Base or others just to get a ECO software. I have been very happy with SCID & the longer I use it the more I can make it do.
Of course it is possible I am saking the wrong question.
Maybe I should be wondering if it is possible to update the ECO that SCID acesses?????
Is there any stand alone ECO software ?
