i also didn't like the French because i learned chess from Fischer. Also the best player in my town was a French Defense expert, but he was not a boring player by any means, in fact he played extremely flamboyant chess, a kind of chess gigolo.
So i figured how do i get over this mental conditioning.
First i labelled the French as the bust to the 4 move mate. Now i had something concrete to deal with.
Next i analysed Karpovs approach to handling Korchnoi, finally deciding his method lacked bite without the aid of microwaved yoghurt and a traveling hypnotist and the annoying habit of staring into your opponents face most of the match. the more i studied the opening the more i began to develop weaponry suiting my own style. happily i can say that i now crush skulls of French defense players with ease.
