That still reads like "Infinite Variation" to me. I'm not sure if there's a good way to get that knight to read like an S.
I might experiment with spelling out the words in full (without any piece-letters) and bracketing the words with pieces-that-aren't-letters.

I have an edit being made to make the knight even more like an S (there is an S shape in there already) but primarily focused on getting the frames out of the other designs.

When I look at it, I can see the S but that's probably more to do with the fact that I know the brand name. My wife thinks it looks like an S too but we will look at making some improvements.

Yeah, it's obvious that it's supposed to be an S, but that's not how it would read to me in a casual glance from across the room.

The pawn represents the "I" and the knight is the "S"

I wanted to add some clarity to what the brand name actually means since it was being discussed here. It doesn't mean what others thought it meant so I thought I would add some clarity:

THE STORY OF INFINITE VARIATIONS

The origin story of our brand name came about as the result of a writing assignment I was given. The objective was to write to someone you deeply care for (alive or passed) and then transcribe their response to a question you asked them. I chose to write to my Uncle Mickey who was like a surrogate father for me as a child. My actual father had been missing from my life since 5 years old and my uncle seemingly took his place for a short while. Tragically, in 1993, he was killed in a construction bridge accident that also took the lives of several of his coworkers.

In this assignment, after asking if I have honored him with the path I have walked in life, the response seemed to have generated from somewhere outside of my mind. I was the one writing, but the information was not coming from me. It felt like I was hijacked and was merely a conduit for a powerful source of energy transmitting through me like an electric current passing through a conductive material. Here was his response:

Question: “Have I honored you with the path I have walked in my life?”

“Yes, you have honored me. You have tried to be a better version of yourself each day that you

existed. The strive for excellence you possess has had a profound impact on the path you chose in

an endless sea of decisions. I see you, my son, for the strength you possess and the intellect of

your brow. Continue to do what your heart desires, and you will always make the right choice.

The inadequacies of the fading weakness will cease to cast a shadow on your path. Use the

wisdom of the stars to illuminate your talents and simultaneously allow the limitless sky to be the

barrier of your skill. Dream of the infinite variations you can pursue and never allow the seeds of

doubt to dissuade you from the everlasting pursuit of happiness.”

The brand name was borne out of the sage advice I was given from the ever-after. Essentially, what my uncle was telling me is to shoot for the stars, give your best each and every day and never be dissuaded by the doubt that occurs in all of us. Beautiful words that will reside in me for the rest of my life.

And that is what Infinite Variations means.

Some of the other references/meanings in Infinite Variations – The most powerful moves in chess occur when you achieve several objectives with the stroke of just one move.

1) After just 7 moves on the chessboard, there are more possible combinations than there are stars in the galaxy. Most people do not realize the infinite and boundless nature of a chess game. Some of history’s best players have lost their minds when encountering the multitude of possibilities at their disposal.

2) It is also a reference to the infinite nature of the cosmos. We are a speck of dust in an endless ocean of stars. Man searches desperately for meaning in an uncertain universe.

Update: We have grown quite a bit in the months since this thread was created. This thread was early in our development and we have expanded quite a bit since then. My team has now grown to 5 core people and we have signed several influencers and master level chess players to our brand. We are expanding into the global market.

I want to update for those who may want to know what we have been up to. We have expanded beyond just T shirts and hoodies...We have home and decor, fitness clothing and other accessories. We have almost 100 unique chess products in our catalog. What a difference several months can make.

This is our Disintegrating Knight design just released a few days ago.

DESCRIPTION

The Disintegrating Knight is a design concept where the premise is imagining a black hole in the vicinity of the chess piece and thus the immense gravity is acting upon it. As you approach a black hole, time begins to slow. The closer you get the more powerful the time dilation effect is. Eventually you hit a point where time becomes infinite and thus this is a metaphoric representation of our brand name – Infinite Variations – and we are layering the depth of our brand along with the ideas we present.

There are often parallels drawn between the expansive and boundless nature of the cosmos and the infinite qualities of the game of chess. Here we provide our take on the combination of all these ideas into one cohesive and polished piece of art – The Disintegrating Knight.
