EN PASSANT is a weird chess rule

Recently I played a game in which I was in a winning position since I was two pawns ahead. All the other main pieces had been traded so it came down to who can push their pawn to end and promote it to a queen. However since I was a Beginner at the time, I was aware about the "EN PASSANT" chess rule so sadly I pushed my pawn 2 squares ahead and since my opponent's pawn was beside it, they took advantage of the position and took it down. Not to mention that rookie error did cost me to lose that game.
I thought it was a bug in the app at first when I saw it happen in front of my eyes but when I Googled it I was amazed to know that it was actually a legal Chess Move.
I recommend not only Chess.com but also those Online Chess Tournament hosts to make more people aware about this move since I am pretty certain most beginners and even amateurs have no clue that this rule exists in the Game of Chess.

It isn't en passent that's the weird rule.
It's the Pawn's sudden ability to jump two squares at once that's the weird rule.
En passent just restores the balance, and prevents the little rat from sneaking past you.

No, it's not weird. Just imagine, the opponent's pawn sneaks behind your pawn without any punishment.
