End-File Mate?

Sort:

I was playing this game against Stockfish 8 when suddenly an idea sparked in my brain. With the three passed pawns on the queenside, I decided to stop the game as it was pretty much losing, so I decided to play with the game a little bit, creating a tripled pawn on the b-file. It suddenly came to me that if there are back-rank mates, where the king gets mated along the last rank because of the three pawns in front blocking its escape squares, can there also be end-file mates in which the king gets mated at the leftmost/rightmost file where the tripled pawns on its left/right side block its escape squares? I know it sounds dubious but is there a way to force this situation? Were there games played with this theme already? Please let me know!

Corridor mate, which is a general term. A back rank mate and Anastasia's Mate are only specific types of corridor mates.

Completely artificial position and not possible (in that game at least) without help from opponent. Black would have promoted long before the 'mate'. Nice try though
