hi friends.i have two expensive chess engines on my PC.houdini 2 and Deep Rybka.my question is what is the best settings or options for a match between these two engines.i am really eager to watch them playing.how should i set up a match and what would be the setting for the best performance?i tried it one time but a game ended in ?-? so i think i made a mistake in somewhere.(two other games ended with 1-0 for houdini and a 0.5-0.5)

why do you even bother watching two top engines play?, its worse than trying to analize games of top GM's.

@windows....well for many reasons.the first one,because of their high elo rating. houdini is 3200 or 3300 of fide and d.rybka is also +3000.the best human is 2800 which hardly ever plays another 2800.i have two +3000 in my home,why shouldnt i watch them?

What GUI do you use?

FWIW, I think both engines' original parameters are built for engine to engine games so you may not have to tweak any of their settings. It is important what opening book you choose, though, but those change for what GUI you choose.

well..technical things are: 1-the original environment is Rybka 4.so as the opening books. 2-hash table is around 7000 MB  3-engines are Houdini 2 pro x64 and deep rybka 4.1 sse 42 x64.which i choose 3000 MB for each engine in a match and a new detail i just found...when a game ends to a ?-? (but actually the position is a clear win) two engines start playing from early moves in the previous game.imagine we play a game,then i make a mistake and ask you to let me UNDO my move and forget the results of the first idea !! now i am checking it again with some marks unmarked ...

another detail is the result is like this deep rybka-houdini ,2 games,+0,=0,-1,?1 wich means one game had a result like ?-? !! but actually...rybka was winning.

12 GB RAM i have.and this ?-? results are driving me Crazy.strange to see rybka can still stand against the great houdini !

just need to know why i have a result like ?-? in an engine match,its even in a very obvious winner position for one side.is this somehow a game - abandoned by agreement??

Thanx Tpenny...so as it says,it can be a engine crash and i myself should decide about the result?Ok...till now,i was testing a 3000 MB against 3000 MB RAM,maybe i should make it a bit lower,cause it was blitz timing after all.i hope this makes strange results solved,cause my houdini 2 can win houdini 1.5 but had some draws against crafty ! and a really hard win against fritz 5 !!!
