Well erm actually he was 1997 AFTER I beat him. I gained 16 rating points off him so he WAS over 2000 when we started playing 🙄

You see, with math I can say that 1997+16= 2013.
So, instead of being 3 points below 2000, now it is 13 points above 2000. Which is slightly more of an inaccuracy, because 13 points off is more than 3 points off.

This is why unrated doesn't really matter, congrats on the win but I think the chance of him blundering his queen in a ranked game where his rating is on the line will be much smaller.
Yet that is exactly what he did.
