my opinion is if you believe your true (tournament) rating is 1400+, join that group.
and ignore the rocky wannabe.

US, informal : to hide your true abilities or purpose in order to deceive people, gain an advantage, etc.
i do not mean to be sandbagger. but i definitely want to play at work (yes, it is ok with my boss). if someone takes you easy, because your rating is low, but you have good day, they must blame themselves.
thanks AlCzervik, i can not join 1400+ tournament, at least not Chess.com official one, i will be directed to lower group.
but yes - probably best not to play tournaments at all.
Thank you illusivelord. I do not worry about Don_frye1. I really do not. Sorry, don!
One of them has 1000 rating and the other 531. Yet they speak as if they are experts. Typical losers, they are quick to point out everyone elses shortcomings, it makes them less aware of their own. Life will do a number on them and therefore, im really not worried about it

Good thing i did thoes 5 puzzles or you would have no straws to grab at. Is he your boyfriend or something. Why would a man come to the defense of another man? Like a "happy" white knight or something
u barely play chess here at all, yet u r always online to simply troll forums. get a life
The chances of ad moninem insults like that being true are about 18 to 1.
NKT73, my job is well done. there are moments when i can play (and it is ok with my boss). the thing is that as main focus is on my job, i can not play my best.
thank you for comment.
no, i will not lose on time. i play at work only daily chess. but anyhow, i have decided that tournaments are beyond limits.

if you want to play, play! in regards to tournaments here, join. if you play the tournament games at work, it'll be the same as other games.
at the beginning of 2016 i reached daily chess rating of 1500 points. nothing to prat about, but there it was and i felt i could keep this level. now i play mostly at work, using my mobile. of course i try to concentrate, but as i work in 12 hours shifts (including night shifts) in noisy enviroment and sometimes i need to drop game instantly and take care for machines (and i keep one eye always open for machines), my rating has dropped to 1300. i still like the game and it helps me stay awake when things run smoothly. just my ability to concentrate on game under such circumstances is not great.
the question is: is it ok to join rating based tournament? i mean there are two players inside me.
if i play just at work, my true rating REALLY IS 1200-1400. if i do take my time, pick best moment of a day and concentrate - i tend to believe that it should be well above 1400.
i do dislike idea of players intentionally dropping their level in order to get more wins on tournament. i do not want to be one.
it is actually not important question, i am just curious. and of course, i will find tournaments with open rating to attend - just to be on safe side. in these terms it is not personal question.
ps. i also do apologize for my poor english. i am not native speaker.
