Or this
Black to play
Just need evaluvations using 7 reference pawns. The material is equal. How do you slowly improve the position for either side? Who is strategically winning? Is it += or =+ or unclear? Please share your opinions
I think 1st position is slight plus to white because he has a strong knight on d5 and the second knight will come to e3 and support it whereas 2nd position looks = ,both sides have equal pawns but white's isolated pawn is somewhat weak but white king can defend it.
Thank you!
No you need to evaluvate it long. For example:#1 position 1.Possession of open lines
There is no open line yet for white. Black has the semi open g file and b files and has some influence in c file too
Like this you should evaluvate #2,3,4,5,6,7 and final conclusion. Who has a slight advantage etc. You gave the latter but not the former
This looks like a great exercise to learn how to correctly evaluate positions, it would also be interesting to evaluate all of this points and compare it with the computer's evaluation.
I'll comment on the diagram 1.
1- Open lines? Probably equal, altho confusing. It can backfire a lot. Where will Black castle? Can he get away with playing with his king in the center? If he plays Rg8 what will happen to the h-pawn after Qh5?
2- I think White is clearly better here, d5 is a perfect square, altho it can be easily challenged with f5 and Bg5. So White needs to be careful to keep Black's counterplay controlled. Meanwhile I think Black has the idea of playing Rb8-a5-b4, trying to get something going on the d4 square, or potentially c4 (once the b4-pawns are traded.)
3- I dont know, will f5 work anytime soon? I guess it does, altho even after it White should be better in this aspect.
4- White is probably also better here, I dont think he is getting mated on the g-file, and being able to castle means connected rooks, which give him a plus.
5- Material is equal.
6- I dont think there is any killer threat, but Black is probably threatening to explode things with f5.
7- Right now White is better on that aspect, altho things can change if Black succesfully plays f5.
I think analyzing the first diagram needs way more precise analysis and looking into the future because the position is not static at all, and things can rapidly change.
I'd play both sides.
black has f5 break and white's strong knight on d5, the blacks open g file, development? both are good.
logical move for white would be nce3. black has chances in the endgame for his bishop pair,
btw is that position from sceshnikov?
