People waste money on expensive sets. Best is vinyl board and weighted plastic pieces. Much fun for years to come. No worry of damage. Only play, play, play. 🤗

Pieces crack and boards bend and so on.
Uncle Jalavan and me play with cheap plastic pieces, weighted. Vinyl board. We never had problems or worries. And if problem ever occur (unlikely), it is really no problem - We just by new.
Uncle Jalavan says expensive chess does not make you good, but worse. Because focus while playing is on the set itself.
