That is the time control I'd like. I hate when my opponent loses on time. I get down to the endgame, and I'm really looking forward to applying Pandolfini's Endgame Course, and I make a few good moves that make my opponent think. Then they get disconnected, lose a minute, and come back on, and lose on time.
For me, the purpose of a clock is to keep the time even and make sure my opponent can't just walk away and leave me waiting. But as long as they are playing, I say let's play the game out. 10 seconds per move should see the game through. If they need more time than that, then they need to drill their endgames more.
Getting just a little fed up with playing people with +time when they dont disclose they have taken this option before the game starts. This has happened a few times to me now, I have the game won on time (blitz) and then when my opponent is down to the last few seconds they get extra seconds each time they move. I am aware that this is an option for all but is it not unsportsmanlike to set this option without informing the person you are playing? Surely this should be agreed on before the game starts?
