I report instantly because I know that in most cases several warnings are issued before the appropriate action (ban) is taken by site admins.

Due to my Arabic name, I face lots of racial animosity. Ironically, I'm more certainly white than nearly every Southern white racist in the KKK. My name reflects my interests as an historian.

Without naming the nationality of these people , would you say they are predominantly from the same country ?

In the past I used a forign-to-the-US sounding name on a different chess site and got called names I'd never seen before.  It was only after googling them I found out they were racist.  An odd situation.  Sadly I've seen similar situations happen off line.  It really highlights the inane tribalism of these people.

No. The US, yes, but also several European nations, and a scattering of others. Not a clear pattern.

There is a pattern that racists suffer from: spelling a grammar disorders. No matter what their presumed first language, their facility with correct English is lacking.

Well , that's good news. Now you have a handle on them. You can spot them a mile away.

Well... it doesn't always work both ways.  Most dogs are dirty animals but most dirty animals aren't dogs.

I had a professor have us learn 10 new words a week because "successful people have a big vocabulary."  I always thought this was fairly insane, as if one caused the other.

Yes of course , you are right. There goes my idea ...

What is now astonishing, that my original post with the screen-shots of what the players wrote in chat to me had been edited, and the pictures deleted, player names removed.

Why "no naming and shaming" please?

If somebody writes to me "f u, bitch" then this is a shame. Why can this not be shown? This is a breach of rules of conduct not only on this site, but anywhere else as well.

Such behavior should not be tolerated and have consequences for the players which are using such vulgar language.

Anyway I deactivated the chat function and blocked the two N. N. guys.

No naming and shaming is just a good housekeeping policy for message boards, and fairly common too.  Even among users that are well meaning and morally justified (neither of which are always the case), publicly posting these messages doesn't help resolve the situation.  Reporting it to the site and attaching quotes and screenshots in the report is reasonable though.

I am with you. When you show this publicaly , it helps other people to get a better picture of this person . It exposes them , a thing they don't like because it brakes their (save ?) anonimity.

I understand that reporting things to the staff only leads to a cover up.They will not act immediately , but only after a number of complaints will they take action.

Maybe this is an idea. Why not add another statistic to a members profile , one controlled by the staff only. We already have a number showing how "active" we are etc. Why not add a number showing bad/good behaviour ?  For example : how many warnings did he get from the staff in a given period.

Equally as bad as this trash talking is playing one game and then declining a rematch, as a certain someone always does when we play.  I suppose I could understand if it was slower time control and you just don't have the time, but if you are playing 1 minute chess, and EVERY SINGLE TIME you play someone, you only play as white, and you decline a rematch, this shows no class.  This may not be the main topic of conversation in this forum, but since we are talking about "fair play in 1 minute chess", and since the person who initiated this conversation is guilty of the behavior I described above, I think it should be mentioned so as to show the other side of the story.

I played White and then declined a rematch. I was sneaking in one game before leaving for work. I barely had time for the one. A second would have made me late for work.

White was randomly assigned due to the nature of my seek.

My opponent spammed my wall with profanity and accusations. We will never play again because I blocked him.

Ziryab

I have one opponent against whom I've played 25 games or so. I suspect that no two were ever on the same day. Maybe I'm the sort that you're complaining about.

However, I don't ever choose the color. Nor do I trash talk. I will sometimes leave wry comments on the pages of those whom I've played, and a little more often I'll say, "thanks for the game." Mostly, I play in silence, offer no rematches, and ignore such offers too. One game in fifty, I may accept a rematch request, nearly always after a hard-fought and evenly matched game.

Trust me-if they catch you, chess.com will get you make sure you scream "do it to Julia!!!" before you go-trust me.

What also sucks is when a player wins a "lost" game on time, then doesn't give a rematch. Sound familiar?
