Fascinating Disparity between Live Play and Online Play

My opponent in 2 games in an online tournament is creaming me, and he has a rating of over 1900+ (and still climbing!).  However, I look at his live game that he's played, and he can't even beat an 1100 in a 5-minute game.

Anyone else out there who can't play a fast game, but has an amazing rating in online play?

Hmmmm....

Well, my 5-min ability seems to have entirely fled me (so maybe so)...

I've got something similar going for me. My bullet rating is around 1200. It's kind of embarrasing how poorly I play. Jump up to 10 min. controls and I play around a 1600-1700 level (1700 if I'm well rested and can think clearly, 1600 if not). On gameknot.com my rating is currently 1774.

For me it seems the slower the controls the better. I'm not really sure why.

Yeah, I think a lot of people are that way.  And it really doesn't make too much sense.  I mean, if you play worse at fast time controls shouldn't everybody else do that too, so you'll still be having the same results against other players (ie, keeping the same rating)?
