Does this mean chess is indeed a sport?
Well, here's two data points of interest in terms of answering that question:
1) Sports Illustrated is a magazine dedicated to covering sporting events and the sportsmen who play sports.
2) If I'm not mistaken, the International Olympic Committee recognizes chess as a sport.

On June 22, the IOC will announce which, if any, new sports will be added to the Olympics. Chess is one of those, though a very long-shot, being considered. I'm curious, since chess has had its own very honorable Olympiad for about 90 years, why FIDE would even want this.
Like similar games -Bridge, Go for instance, chess is called a Mind Sport. While conceptually cute, if chess as a "Sport" requires a mitigating adjective, is it truly a sport - or just a sport wannabe?
