FIDE Online Arena = Scam

They were having an issue with their payment system.  It is working now.

No...it sounds like their's after they write me and admit that their processing server was down yesterday. It had nothing to do with Java.

Some of you really need to learn how to read a thread.

Sub1000

I hope this has been a good lesson for you.

Even if I believe you that it was indeed their mistake, that still does not explain the hasty and slanderous accusation that you originally made. If you read my very first in this thread again, it clearly says that it could very well be a simple issue on their end or yours.

Given your conduct here, it's also very possible they did "Customer Service" and admitted fault even if there may not have been one. I cant even begin to imagine what was in the emails you've sent to them. I can see each email getting more and more aggressive than the first.

Just because pizza gets delivered in 20 mins. one time, does not mean it gets delivered in 20 mins. all the time. Sometimes, in real life, things happen. Delays happen. This does not warrant blasting the pizza place with false accusations of crime just because they did not pick up the phone when you called. Next time, think about waiting 45 mins for your pizza before making a complaint. They have your "personal information" too, ya' know.

You tell me that chess is not for me.

You have been irrational, impatient and inaccurate this whole encounter. These "qualities" are not so good for chess.

Warbringer33

LOL...I can't believe he came back to the thread after it was absolutely, completely dead and wrote all that.

Write some more, man. Don't worry - we'll all be waiting by with bated breath.

/thread. If you guys want to just troll air, go ahead. I have a life.

I never had a problem, with payment or customer support. Site doesnt worth the payment though

Warbringer has a life, and spends around 10hrs on one thread where you're not going to get any help. Relising this he spends his time insulting anyone who posts and calling them inferior. I'm failing to see how that works out...

And suddenly I'm a little brat and nerd bag. But when I was sharing my knowledge with you, everything was perfectly ok. Learn how to be grateful. If not, then life will teach you for sure. Sooner or later.

What did you not like about it? As far as the software, the concept, and the preset time controls - I think it looks pretty good. Tons of coverage of online and OTB events, too.

I mean, to put up some FIDE #'s without leaving the house isn't really something I'm going to argue with. It was $58 USD for a year. As said, what looks like the weak point of the site is that there is no way to directly contact someone for customer support. That's always a concern with me because without it, you're left waiting on replies from emails that may or may not come. If they had live customer support or a phone number they would have known almost immediately that their processing server went down yesterday. Instead, they never even saw the emails from people about it until today. I mean, it's not like this was a minor thing. They lost all new business for almost an entire day.

Thanks, dude. I appreciate the wisdom of a 16 year old.

You said it.

Holy cow, people are dumb...and I am not actually talking about Sub1000, although his rude introduction "Are you an idiot" sure did poison the atmosphere a good deal.

Unfortunately, there's really only one way to get things done at times. You have to create waves. I'm sorry but when dealing with information to that degree, they need to have a website or customer service department at the wheel at least enough to notice it within 24 hours. There's a good ~1000 players logged in and playing at any given time there. That's a lot of potential problems, especially considering that a percentage of those games are legitimately FIDE rated.

There are mods on these forums? Do they ever ...moderate any threads?

I would never have opened the same way if he had asked a question (Is FIDE Arena a scam?) instead of posting an premature, incorrect, accusatory, slanderous conclusion.

At least my introduction was accurate, and although rude, was on like terms with the OP and thread title.

I am always willing to help people who are looking for help on this website. The OP did not want help. He wanted to vent/rant. His juvenile ranting is what "poisoned the atmosphere". My first post just happened to be the catalyst. Had I not posted at all, I really dont think the outcome would have been any different. He is an idiot, and someone else would have eventually called him out. I at least attempted to reason with him, to little or no success.

Neither one of you was really mature but where Warbringer33 truly took a dive was when he started citing ratings as a reason for why the person he was arguing against must be stupid. Neither one of you guys has a very good chess rating, and the difference between Warbringer's 1300 and Sub1000's 1100 (or whatever it is, I just looked at tactics trainer) is not a lot, but outside of the study of chess itself, you cannot assume someone is not intelligent because he is low-rated, and doing so is also highly offensive because after all, most people would be rated under 1000 if they played chess. You might say that if they worked at it, they could be higher than that, but probably not, since people over 25 years old rarely improve in chess. I know several people who have played almost every weekend for years and can't break 1300- and objectively they may be smarter people than I am.

The fact that you're still going on and on (and on) about this shows that you have some sort of mental illness. That you could care THAT much that someone "ranted" on the Chess.com forums is ...insane.

And yet you continue to post and continue to try and bait me into yet another argument. That's just absolutely unreal. That ANYONE could be dissecting the thread and discussing it to the extent that a few of you are at this point is insane.

I ranted and drew attention to a problem and the problem got solved. It's really not a Federal case. Nobody in their right mind could care at this point. It's long, long onto the next thing in my life.
