Ye this sux, i was one of the first to register on the very day the opened it for public testing. The software was working fine, didn't find any bugs. They said it will go live next month. And then again the next month and recently it's "early 2014" and "SOON" for many months. Don't expect it to go live before 2017 :(
Oh and I forgot to mention: some of AFRICAN players are allowed to have a full account there, because there was a KIRSAN's CUP where they were able to register. European, Asians and Americans can't play there for real rating because there are no other such tournaments. I like Kirsan but since this whole project seems to be postponed ad infinitum, I'm getting quite angry at him (and the guy who blocked it at the presidential board meeting, I think it was the US-representative) and think Kirsan is trying to get African votes for the FIDE Presidency by making a KIRSAN cup with a FIDE online Arena regestration option for Africans only.

The full version of FIDE Online Arena is up and running. You can now earn an official FIDE rating playing online bullet, blitz, and rapid (10min - 60min). If you have a FIDE ID, the first month is free. Titled players get one year free. If you don't have a FIDE ID, you can play as a guest until May 2, at which point you can upgrade. Check it out:

I live in a far-away corner of The World and don't have access to FIDE rated games and want to develop a FIDE rating.
